Off the rack clothing presents particular issues for people with SCI. For instance, seams can be in places where they can cause skin breakdown, pant legs are often too short for sitting position and can't accommodate the width of a urinary drainage bag, waist sizes can be too small, jackets are often too long in the back for a sitting position, buttons and zippers assume full finger dexterity, etc. Typical store bought clothes often require special alterations. There are however, numerous companies on the internet that specialize in adaptive clothing for people with disabilities. Try doing a google search on adaptive and/or wheelchair clothing.
